The ‘IIT’ tag is something which fascinates everyone. This much coveted IIT tag comes to those who work hard day and night to clear JEE. Most of the students after graduating from IIT go for MNC job or Masters or civil services.  But some IITians dared to think beyond that and entered into the glamorous world of entertainment.

Some IITians fought all the odds and made their way to this glamorous world. So here in this article, we will mention some of the most popular IITians in the entertainment industry

Arunabh Kumar 

I don’t think I need to introduce this guy to those who access Youtube frequently.  But, for formality, let me introduce to you Mr. Arunabh Kumar, Founder and Chief Entertainment Officer of The Viral Fever (TVF). Yeah ! You read it right Chief Entertainment Officer , not Chief Executive Officer.

Amol Parashar (DJ Chitwan)

Amol Parashar is an Indian actor. He has acted in plays, TV commercials and films.  He gained immense popularity as DJ Chitwan of TVF Tripling Series. Amol Parashar, Sumeet Vyas and Maanvi Gagroo contributed to the viral success of TVF Tripling series. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and later quit his job at ZS Associates to join the arts.

Being a geek ,Amol is different from his reel life character,Chitwan. After completing engineering, he found his interest in acting and decided to pursue this hobby as career. Chetan Bhagat

Chetan Bhagat (born 22 April 1974) is an Indian author, columnist, screenwriter, television personality and motivational speaker, known for his English-language dramedy novels about young urban middle-class Indians.Bhagat was born in New Delhi, India. His father was an army officer and his mother was a government employee in the agricultural department.

He completed his school education from The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan in Delhi. He received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1995 and his MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad in 1997.

Biswapati Sarkar

This list in incomplete without this talented person. Biswapati Sarkar is an Indian writer and director, presently employed as the Creative Director at The Viral Fever (TVF). Sarkar was born to Bengali parents. He is an IIT Kharagpur graduate. He began his career with script writing and later became an integral part of TVF which was founded by his college senior Arunabh Kumar.

He is most famous for essaying the character of “Arnub”, who is a parody of the Indian journalist Arnab Goswami. His online talk-show series Barely Speaking with Arnub has received more than 7.5 million YouTube views and has featured celebrities and politicians like Shahrukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Zafar, Sunny Leone, Arvind Kejriwal and Chetan Bhagat. He has also written popular and critically acclaimed web series TVF Pitchers season 1 and Permanent Roommates season 2.

 Vipul Goyal

Vipul Goyal is an Indian stand-up comedian. He is the protagonist of the mini-web series Humorously Yours (Series by TVF). He was born in Falna in Rajasthan, India. He studied electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He was greatly inspired by Indian stand-up comedian of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge fame, Raju Shrivastava. He regularly performed at college and school events.

Goyal worked as a Retail analyst with Adventity Inc. for 6 months before quitting to pursue stand-up comedy full time. While in IIT-B, he had starred in a feature film Deja Vu, directed and written by a fellow IITian, Anshul Singhal. This was inspired by a play of the same name that they had earlier worked together in. Goyal has performed at events for TEDx talks, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival, Toastmasters International and the Ignite Talks. He is the lead actor in The Viral Fever’s latest web series, titled Humorously Yours, which is based on him only.

Rahul Ram

One of the top bassists in India, Rahul Ram plays bass guitar for Indian Ocean, the musical band he joined in the year 1991. While he hails from a greatly educated family well-known for maintaining high academic standards, Rahul always enjoyed playing bass guitar from school and performing in events while still studying at St. Stephens.

After studying Chemistry at Stephens, he did Master of Science in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.  Other than being an active member of Indian Ocean, Rahul has composed songs and sung for many appreciated-by-critics movies including Gulaal, Peepli Live and Black Friday.

Ashish Lal

Ashish has completed his graduation from IIT, Delhi with a B. Tech degree. He has acted and scripted the story of the popular Bollywood movie ‘With Love, Delhi’. He runs a production house named RedMat Entertainment co-owned by a college friend which makes movies, documentaries, corporate AVs etc.

Nitin Gupta

Nitin Gupta, popularly known as Rivaldo, studied Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay.He started Entertainment Engineers, with a simple mission, to make Stand Up Comedy respectable in India and to create a humour Renaissance.

He has, till date, done more than 140 shows, with performances at some of the Biggest College Festivals in India, IITs, NITs, IIMs, their Alumini Meets, and various Fortune 500 Companies’ corporate events.
